1. JBL Xtreme 2

If you are looking for a premium bluetooth speaker with an all around performance, then JBL Xtreme 2 is your best choice.
It is an upgraded model of their yesteryear flagship JBL Xtreme. In fact, JBL launched the next version Xtreme 3 in 2020, but it’s not yet available for sales in India.
JBL Xtreme 2 is the best bluetooth speaker in India, if you want to take it to the beach or a house party in the backyard or pool with your friends.
But there is a huge con to this speaker! To know that, continue reading. We’ll get into that in a minute.
Now, let’s have a deeper look into it’s specifications, benefits and features so that you can easily decide whether it will suit your needs or not.
What are the specifications of JBL Xtreme 2?
Audio Output | 40 Watts |
Driver Size | 2 x 70mm |
Battery Life | 15 Hours |
Waterproof | IPX7 |
Frequency Response | 55Hz – 20KHz |
Bluetooth | v4.2 |
Ports | 3.5 mm audio jack |
Built-in Mic | Yes |
Warranty | 1 Year |
How’s the Audio Quality of JBL Xtreme 2?
Based on all the models we’ve tested so far, we can definitely say JBL Xtreme 2 is one of the best sounding bluetooth speakers in India.
JBL Xtreme 2 consists of a total of 4 forward facing drivers. The two of them are massive 70mm drivers and another two are 20mm tweeters.
The four active drivers are powered by an amplifier that delivers 10W to each thus delivering a total 40 Watts sound output.
With regards to frequency response, JBL Xtreme 2 handles all the frequencies very nicely, especially low tones.
Normally, cheap speakers boost the lows beyond a certain limit to improve bass performance, but it adversely affects the midtones and highs. But in JBL Xtreme 2, two massive 3.5 inch active bass radiators are employed for bass boosting.
As a result of this, even at high volumes, there is zero distortion in mid and highs thereby allowing you to clearly differentiate vocals from the bgm and bass.
JBL Xtreme 2 also has an internal noise cancelling microphone to facilitate hands free calling. The noise separation is excellent even in noisy outdoors. But during our testing, there was a slight delay in picking the sound occasionally.
Overall, if you can spend the asking price of this bluetooth speaker, then there is no better model than JBL Xtreme 2.
How’s the Build & Design of JBL Xtreme 2?
JBL Xtreme 2 has a familiar cylindrical design similar to their Charge series and super premium BoomBox speakers.
The body of the speaker is made up of highly durable ABS plastic with rubber and fabric covering wherever required. The front part of the speaker enclosure is covered by a tough fabric mesh.
To hold it properly, the JBL Xtreme 2 has the provision to connect the strap. Also, to balance it properly while placing on surfaces, it has a small stand at the bottom.
In short, the tagline “built like a tank” suits JBL Xtreme 2 perfectly. But all these come at a cost, the weight and size!
JBL Xtreme weighs around 2.5Kg with a massive size of 13.6 x 28.8 x 13.2 cm making it very difficult to carry around easily. Eventhough JBL claims it is “portable”, in reality it is not that much of a portable speaker.
Since JBL Xtreme 2 is IPX7 rated, you don’t need to worry about occasional water splashes and light rains.
How’s the Battery Life on the JBL Xtreme 2?
JBL Xtreme 2 comes with a massive 10000 mAH Lithium battery.
Eventhough JBL claims only 15 hours of battery life on this speaker, during our tests we got around 17 hours of life at 50 percent volume which is pretty good considering the huge drivers and bass radiators.
One of the major drawbacks of this speaker is how you charge it. In this era of USB Type-C fast charging, this speaker lacks even a micro-USB port.
You can charge this speaker using the provided AC adapter input only. And it takes approximately 4 hours to fully charge from 0 to 100%.
Even though it does not have a micro-USB to charge the speaker, it has a USB port to charge your smartphones or other wearables.
How’s the Connectivity & Controls on the JBL Xtreme 2?
JBL Xtreme 2 has all the necessary connectivity options you expect in a bluetooth speaker.
The Bluetooth v4.2 is very good at receiving signals, if the connected device is well inside 30ft without much obstructions.
Since v4.2 is a little outdated one, this speaker does not support AAC codec and as a result of this, a little latency is experienced while watching YouTube videos.
If you prefer wired connection, you can connect using the 3.5 mm audio jack. There is no change in audio quality as well.
This speaker has JBL Connect+ feature that lets you connect up to 100 JBL speakers wirelessly. But keep in mind, all the JBL speakers you indeed to connect must have JBL Connect+ feature.
To control the bluetooth speaker easily, it has all the necessary control options in the form of physical elevated buttons. It includes a Bluetooth Pair button, volume up and down buttons, play and skip button, power button and a dedicated JBL Connect+ button.
How’s the Warranty & Support of the brand JBL?
JBL Xtreme 2 comes with a 1 year comprehensive brand warranty from the date of purchase. If you have any questions regarding warranty claims or products, you can dial their 24 hours toll free service deck at 18001020525.
All the JBL products are designed and developed by Harman Industries of California, United States. The products sold at Asian countries are manufactured at their facilities in China.
Since Harman Industries is owned by Samsung, there are 150+ service centers available across the country. That means even in case your speaker malfunctions, there’s a service center nearby in a nearby town or city.
What are the Positives of JBL Xtreme 2?
- Excellent sound delivery
- Large drivers and tweeters
- Perfect bass
- Noise cancellation microphone
- 17 hours battery life
- 10000 mAH battery
- Can be used as a power bank
- IPX7 waterproof rating
- Excellent build quality
- 1 year warranty
What are the Negatives of JBL Xtreme 2?
- Very heavy with 2.5Kg
- Not easily portable
- Charges via AC adaptor only
- High price
Should you get the JBL Xtreme 2?
If you are someone who hosts friends parties frequently at your backyard or swimming pool but cannot afford those husky party speakers, then JBL Xtreme 2 is one of best options well under 20000 price tag.
But at the same time, if you are an adventure seeker or frequent traveller then JBL Xtreme 2 is not a good option because of it’s bulky size and heavy weight.
2. Marshall Stockwell II

Marshall is a UK based audio brand that is famous for its guitar amplifiers. But with the collaboration of Sweden based Zound Industries marshall introduced a bluetooth speaker lineup.
Soon after its launch, the western world went gaga over the Marshall bluetooth speakers. The main reason for it’s astounding success is the retro design coupled with premium build and excellent audio quality. Very soon, Marshall became a symbol of luxury.
Marshall Stockwell II is one of the entry level products that got sold to more than a million customers in a few months after the launch.
Let’s see how this speaker performs and compares with other legendary products from JBL and Sony. First, have a quick look at the specifications of Marshall Stockwell II.
What are the specifications of Marshall Stockwell II?
Audio Output | 20 Watts |
Battery Life | 20+ Hours |
Waterproof | IPX4 |
Frequency Response | 55Hz – 20KHz |
Bluetooth | v5.0 |
Ports | AUX In |
Built-in Mic | No |
Warranty | 1 Year |
How’s the Audio Quality of Marshall Stockwell II?
Marshall Stockwell II has three speakers inside the frontal metal grill. The main speaker delivers a total of 10W sound output whereas the two tweeters add another 5W each.
The audio quality out of the box is very loud and excellent. For the size, the maximum loudness it can reach is exceptional! Also, even at the high volumes you won’t notice any drop in crispness of the audio.
But if you want to customize the audio experience based on your taste you can do it easily with the help of treble and bass controls at the top. Compared to app controls, we feel the mechanical knobs make it very easy to fine tune the settings.
One area of the audio experience where this speaker lagged a little is Bass. Bass in this speaker is not bad, but not that great for this price. Even with the provided Bass Boost, it can’t perform similarly to other bass heavy models like Sony SRS-XB43.
So, if you are looking for a bass heavy speaker, then better skip this model and move on to Sony SRS-XB43.
How’s the Design & Build of the Marshall Stockwell II?
Unlike all other bluetooth speaker brands, Marshall takes a legendary approach in designing their speakers. If you enter a shop selling only Marshall speakers, then you may feel you have entered some antique shop!
The retro radio look of Marshall speakers is one of the main reasons for their success apart from the outstanding audio quality they offer. “Think Different” slogan works perfectly for Marshall when we talk about bluetooth speakers.
Marshall speakers are an item of luxury in western countries. And marshall proves that with the design of each and every part in the device. Even the provided AUX input cable has a retro look and is gold plated at the front.
Since it is IPX4 water resistance rated, you don’t have to worry about taking the speaker outside in occasional rain.
Overall, if you are a fan of retro look then the design and build of Marshall Stockwell II isn’t gonna disappoint you for sure.
How’s the Battery Life of the Marshall Stockwell II?
Marshall Stockwell II has a replaceable battery when all other brands have non replaceable ones.
Even though there is no mention of battery capacity, it gives you approximately 15 to 20 hours of battery life based on the volume settings.
During our testing, we were able to play music continuously for 17 hours at 60 percent volume with custom EQ settings.
Charging this speaker is not a big hustle because it comes with the fast USB Type-C port. The fast charge technology provides 6 hours music playback with just 20 minutes of charging.
To fully charge the speakers, you need at least 5 hours of time.
How’s the Connectivity & Controls on the Marshall Stockwell II?
Marshall Stockwell II was launched in August 2019. So, it has the latest generation Bluetooth v5.0 chipset that has a range up to 30ft away from the device without any obstruction.
For audiophiles who want to play high bitrate lossless files, you can use the 3.5 audio input port. But when we were testing the 3.5 mm audio port the audio was very unstable. We thought it’s just a problem with our device, but many users have experienced this based on multiple forum posts.
In terms of control options, Marshall Stoickwell II outshines every other device in this list of best bluetooth speakers under 20000.
It is because of the presence of mechanical knobs for controlling treble, bass and volume. You can adjust all these parameters in every other model, but a mechanical knob gives a feel that no digital counterpart can achieve.
There’s a dedicated bluetooth button that you have to press for a few seconds to pair your device.
How’s the Warranty & Support of Marshall brand in India?
All the Marshall products in India come with a 1 year comprehensive warranty from the date of purchase.
But service is where Marshall lags behind JBL, Sony or any other brands in this list.
Since Marshall is an international brand that came to India recently, they don’t have any official retail or service centers. They have tied up with Luxury Personified LLP, a New Delhi based company for sales and service of Marshalls products in India.
You can contact their customer support via Toll Free number 1800-111-786 or send a mail to cse@sungroup.net.
In case of returns and refunds, if you have purchased from Amazon then you can directly raise the return request and get refund easily. Instead, if you bought from unreliable e-commerce stores or offline shops you may have to send the product to Luxury Personified HQ in Delhi for further processing.
What are the Positives of Marshall Stockwell II?
- Excellent sound experience
- Great bass
- 20 hours of battery life
- Excellent build quality
- Retro design with mechanical knobs
- IPX4 Water resistance
- Replaceable battery
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- Leather strap for carrying

Just like JBL Xtreme 2, Sony SRS-XB43 also has four active drivers. Two of them are 2.5 inch (64mm) woofers and other two are 0.8 inch (20mm) tweeters.
These all combine to deliver a total of 44 watts of sound output.
As we already mentioned in the intro section, this speaker is not for everyone. It is a “bass-heavy” speaker with Sony’s premium Extra Bass technology employed.
The layout of the side passive radiators in this speaker is optimized to allow more air, so that the low frequency notes can be boosted exceptionally well and thus high bass is produced.
We tested the speaker with different kinds of music tracks. The best sounding audio was from the track that had very low frequency response (means bass heavy song).
But in some instances, we noticed uneven sounds and some frequencies missing. Maybe it was a problem with the firmware we had.
It does come with a noise cancelling internal microphone for making hands free calling. The noise cancellation in this speaker is one of the best we’ve ever tested. Even in noisy outdoors, the audio separation is excellent.
Overall, the audio output from Sony SRS-XB43 is perfect for the people who want to experience chest thumping bass.
How’s the Design & Build of the Sony SRS-XB43?
Sony SRS-XB43 has a rectangular shaped box design which can be placed either horizontally or vertically depending on your preference.

When holding in hand the bluetooth speaker feels super premium. We’re sure that the occasional drops won’t cause any internal damage to the speaker.
The only drawback here is the weight and size. It weighs approximately 3Kg making it one of the heaviest bluetooth speakers available in india. But, if you are looking for a speaker in this price range, all the available options have 2.5+ Kg weight.
It is available in multiple color options like black, blue, and orange. Based on our preferences, black and blue looks really great.
How’s the Battery Life of the Sony SRS-XB43?
Sony SRS-XB43 has a massive 10000 mAH Lithium ion battery. Sony claims 24 hour battery life, but in our tests we got around 19 hours playback at 60 percent volume level.
It comes with a USB type-C port for charging. To fully charge the speaker from 0 to 100% it takes around 3 to 4 hours.
Similar to most of the speakers of this price range, you can charge your phone as well with the USB A port.
How’s the Connectivity & Controls on the Sony SRS-XB43?

If the speaker is connected to AC power, then it can get substantially louder than what you get in normal battery operation. And the best part is even at such high volumes, there is absolutely zero distortion.
Because of its huge size, out of the box it delivers phenomenal bass. Even if you are a bass lover, sometimes you might feel too much bass. You can change the EQ settings to reduce or set according to your taste.

One thing to note is it doesn’t have any physical battery level indicator LEDs. When you power on, the automated voice tells you the battery left, but the problem is to check battery life, everytime you need to power on and off.
How’s the Connectivity & Controls on the Bose SoundLink Revolve+?
Even though Bose Soundlink Revolve+ was launched way back in 2019, it comes with a mid-level Bluetooth v4.2 chipset that has a range of 20+ meters outdoors without any obstruction.
The signal strength is excellent even if the connected device is far away from the speaker.
If you want to play high fidelity lossless audio, you can connect using the AUX input port. We didn’t experience any quality experience between both wired and wireless modes.
You can connect two speakers through Bose Connect app, available for both Android and Iphones. You can connect the speakers in two modes, either Part or Stereo.
Party mode plays the same audio in both speakers and it’s useful if you want to keep two speakers in different rooms. But stereo mode is for audiophiles who want to split up left and right channel audio separately through two different speakers.
